Day 3: Gainesville, FL to Hampton Springs, FL

Another bagel for breakfast. I've realised the bag I bought weighs nearly a kilo. Must eat fast.

I'd originally planned to head north and follow the Adventure Cycling Southern Tier route but it looks a bit of a long way into Tallahassee, and I think it could be done in two days. Highway 27 was the road of choice and I stayed on it all day, including a nice stretch of bike trail down to the the Suwannee.

Things felt good so I cracked on through the swamp to Perry where I'd hopefully find a nice camp spot. I've taken to tuning into local radio on the boring roads for a bit of entertainment. Today's report: gospel, gospel, autosport.

The fancy campground on my map turned out to cost $24. Nah. The town what I saw didn't look the most appealing to stealth camp but luckily a police officer I passed gave me info about a site another 5 miles west and even phoned ahead to check the availability. It was a $10 'primitive' (with wifi and bathrooms) spot, and located right on the road I'd take tomorrow. Getting a bit tired and with light fading I get to Rocky's, pitch my tent and pass out. My Garmin died but I think it pushed out the day to about 100 miles.
